I'm running the rywire obd2 budget harness.
all you need to do is splice a couple of wires into the cabin harness.

a ground kit is pretty much just an upgrade with thicker wires and neater looking way to ground your engine, tranny and battery
Looks good and helps a bit but not completely necessary... you can probably buy some thicker gauge wiring somewhere, get some terminal clamps and crimp them onto the ends of the wires for cheaper...
