Well I built my drivers side door up today, trying to save a much weight as I can to make up for the roll bar.
I want my car to be right at the minimum weight of 1440#, sounds impossible but I am shooting for it anyway.
Few door pics:
and removed the under coating form the front left wheel well, it was a bitch so I quit for the day after that...
after some flat black paint in the wheel well:

My first look into your build Aren, looking good! wish I had your welding skills while I was welding in the new floorboards for my 86 straman. I could never show you my work, because it is doggy poo compared to yours! lol... Save some of that rollbar material and I'll pay you to fab me up one for the straman
I pitty the fool...

Thanks, for your straman I have the bender and everything so we would just need some more DOM from salt lake and we could whip up a nice roll bar.

It's been a while, I am still slowly moving forward, here are just a few updates it looks like my master plan is coming together
The rear Diffuser.
My car will be set with a small amount of what I consider strategic aero modifications lol.
This is the frame work for the diffuser it will speed up air and make a low pressure area about 2feet ahead of my rear axle instead of behind it like many other cars I am hoping that this will add down force to the rear but also not lift the front.
It will be set a 27degrees from the level ground. This is a steep angle and at high speed a diffuser at this angle would just stall out and create drag. But before it stalls, at low speed; the air speeding past the bend will suck this baby down. I'll be racing at low speeds Thats the theory at least.
installed sheet metal on just the left side so far...
This pic shows the rear diffuser frame and the sheet metal on the left. also you can get the over all picture of what is going to go down.
There will also be a scoop from the interior to help force the air from the cabin out the back, pulling more air over the diffuser... more on that later.
This car will not have a rear bumper of any sort.
____
I also started the skeltonized radiator support, its not complete but should be done soon...

Careful with the diffuser......if the transition from the flat bottom of the car to the diffuser is too abrupt you will get flow separation there and it will reduce the effectiveness of the diffuser significantly. You have to roll into the diffuser a bit, ideally you want the air to stick to the diffuser face like water flowing over the bottom of a spoon when held in a stream of water.
Also your rear axle is going to play hell with the function of the diffuser. But that's unavoidable..........
You might find more benefit having the diffuser start at the axle CL and build a flat floor from the back of the tub. That will move your aerodynamic center of pressure rearward.
Just a thought.
Good work though Aren, keep it up!
