maybe this has been asked b4 but oh well....anyways what tires do you use and what experience have you had with them. I'm thinking about importing some AO48 for my car because i really liked how they perfeomed on 18" rims at buttonwillow....but I've found there is little selection for 15"rims that is comprable. and if I could avoid spending $220 per tire I'd like too

I hope you're not talking about putting 18" on a 1G crx/3G civic because your fellow RPR community would have to bitch slap you, repeatedly.... biggrin.gif

I just got a set of American Racing 15x8's from Craigslist for $200. and a set of Falken Ziex 512's, size 195-50R-15 (which I got from a local vendor for $295 installed), so I got a whole new set of tires & rims for under $500. Now I'm going to see how much I can get for my phone dial 14's with the Dunlops on 'em. cool.gif
In short, if you shop around long enough, you can find good deals. I'm told that the aforementioned Tire Rack does have good deals, particularly if you have an in on getting them installed, as they deliver the tires to your door.

im surprized no one has asked what you are using the car for with the tires. for street tires, now i have htr 200. love'em. quiet and they stick. i used to have ziex. don't know if they were 512's or not but they sucked.

so what purpose do you have for the tires, or did i miss it?

No way. I paid about $300 installed with new valves stems and balancing and 5% sales tax. I think they were around $60 a piece for the 14". These ride hard. They have very hard sidewalls.

Aidan,

I have been there and done that. Long story short: No street tire is worth a damn on the track.

I now buy used Yoko racing tires from the tire facility at Willowsprings and Buttonwillow, usually about $25 each and they are a thousand times better than ANY street tire.

If you race, you need race tires. Don't compromise.

Scott,

Are they take-offs from the SRF's?

If so, I agree, those would be perfect tires for track days.
