I've seen dyno tests performed with a stock manifold versus a Pacesetter. It was on a rotary engine, but they seem to be more responsive to "breathing" modifications than a piston engine. Not only did the out-of-the-box Pacesetter not fit properly it lost an average of 2hp across the board. After the owner spent a few hours porting the collector to get it somewhat smooth, it made slightly more than the stock manifold at peak, but still was a bit lower through the midrange than the stock manifold. The moral of this story? A used DC header is a much better deal than a brand new Pacesetter...

For the benefit of argument, I have had pacesetter, Chikara, and DC Sports. On my 87 CRX (1.5 SOHC) I had the pacesetter header AND full exhaust. Both sucked, not just for rust, but for design. The header flange that connected to the exhaust pipe broke. The exhaust rocked back and forth due to lack of support and punched a whole in the muffler. AND they rust. It made the car way louder, but I didn't get much if any gain. I had the Chikara on my 85 CRX (1.5 SOHC only application for first gen, don't believe they have 1.6 DOHC) and it made a noticable difference. More torque and kick. Held up okay, but exterior rusted, so get it coated if you plan on keeping it. Mine was a halfway point to my ZC. I now have the DC header for my 85 CRX ( 1.6 DOHC ZC). Don't know about gains since it was installed with ZC. Good quality. Ceramic coated, minor rust specks. Held up well, even to bottoming out. If you get a pacesetter you may want the welds reinforced, and have it coated. If I am correct, (As there is doubt?) I think from my research, Brospeed, Pacesetter, and Monza are the same. I think Brospeed was the brand Paeco used and they said it was basically a Pacesetter. Happy hunting. wink.gif

not to be rude...but have you ever tried the pacesetter header? cuz when i went from the stock mani to the header there was a hell of a gain in preformance so i am just wondering if u have tried it?

OK, man. I see your point, and I say to each his own. If you like Pacesetter, go with them. In fact, they sell a whole exhaust system complete with Monza tips if you want them. But, I won't be trying a Pacesetter header. I have my own plans for exhaust, and they don't include Pacesetter. I'll probably get a Lightspeed because I like their customer service and their products, and I think they are the kind of company that deserves to be around a while. Good luck.

Going to Hawaii? You need a Dune Buggy.

WTB: 14x8 or 9" Panasports or Watanabe RS.

WTB: 3g Civic hatch gauge cowl, brown.

WTB: ZC header--FOUND

For the DC sports header does that only fit the stock EW engine on the first gens? It wouldnt fit the D16A1 would it, or do they make one for that engine?
