In Topic: Questions, Can't Find Rpr Facebook And 87 Parts Car

04 September 2017 - 11:10 PM

Ok, thanks for the FB link, I found RPR and requested to join the group.

I fail to understand how I failed to find it using the FB search, but oh well, I tried.

Parts, what parts ?  Well I've yet to "acquire" the '87 CRX Si Parts Car,

but have looked at it and it has a lot of good nice parts imho.

Car is complete except the front end (light wreck), and looks to have been garaged.

Guess I should avoid getting ahead of myself, just talkin' myself into and/or out-of it I guess.....

Thanks again for the link to RPR on FB

In Topic: Engine Cooling Inspection And Repair?

There are ( 7 ) small coolant hoses on the PGMFI "intake":

I was able to use just standard 5/16 Fuel Hose & clamps, iirc, or 3/8 maybe, to replace them.

Long needle nose pliers and a razor blade help with removing old hoses.

Gotta be careful, don't break any hose nipples, don 't nick or scare the hose nipples with the razor.

Got to the oil cooler ones from from underneath the car, had to remove the oil filter iirc.

1 = PVC Air Tube Heater, In ( on top )

2 = PVC Air Tube Heater, Out ( on top )

3 = Head to Throttle Body ( on top, front )

4 = T-Body to FIV ( on top, behind T-Body )

5 = FIV to "metal coolant tube" ( under intake, behind head )

6 = Oil Cooler to "metal coolant tube" ( on bottom, behind block, under intake )

7 = Oil Cooler to "block fitting" ( on bottom, behind block, under intake )

Isn't a recirculating fuel system with a bypass regulator and a return line to the tank a better set-up than a "dead-head" fuel pressure regulator set-up, even with carbs ?  Some systems like that adjust Fuel Pressure by changing out a fuel return line restricter / jet / pill.

In Topic: Steering Wheel Recommendations?

I have and might SALE a vintage Momo black Leather Steering Wheel w/ 2 Center pieces ( Momo & "H" ) and the Adapter Hub along with the matching black leather Momo Shifter Knob that are late 80's vintage and were on my 1987 CRX Si when I bought it Jan 2012 from the guy who bought and installed the Momo stuff and owned the car for 24 years.  All in pretty nice shape.  I removed them both and replaced them with stock Steering Wheel & Shift Knob.  Let me know if you'd like more info.

Front Brake Pad / Calipers / Brake Fluid Question....

Due to my "circumstances" I got "help" installing new front Brake Pads, that is someone did it for me....

They did NOT open the front caliper BLEED SCREWS when they pressed the pistons all the way back into the Calipers

to install the new PADS.  Which I thought was the wrong thing to do, but I wasn't doing it.  So all the old fluid got sent back up through the system.  Obviously I thought that can't be right, the hydraulic brake system works because it "dis-allows" back-flow of the hydraulic fluid in the system, makes pressure, and works the brakes.

So now I have a "crap" brake pedal.  It's there and has "feel" but the brakes don't really "apply" immediately.  Press harder and a little more and then kinda more braking action than was wanted does finally "come-in", if you catch my drift.

? So did the "help" I got mess-up the "Cups" in the Master Cylinder by forcing reverse pressure of old brake fluid backwards through the hydraulic brake system instead of opening the Caliper Bleed Screws before pushing the Pistons back into the Calipers ?

And I also hope it would not have caused any problems with the "Distribution Block" in the engine compartment on the passenger side inner fender well below the wiper motor area.

Please help me out and educate me fellow Red Peppers, thank you for your wealth of experience and knowledge.
