I bought all the parts and pieces for my battery hold down at the local honda dealer, but, unbelievably, none of it seems to be right, anyone have a pic of the factory battery hold down so I can get a point of reference?

I'm quite tired of the bungee

There are two places to put the standard rods. One good and one bad. The bad ones are on the battery tray itself. They have an incorrect angle and the battery will tilt on it's own.

The good ones are on the frame rail just outside the edge of the battery tray. If you install them there the right angled bar that goes over the battery's engine side will clap down nicely. Hope that's what you need. JS

If you want one of these Logos send me a PM

Here are two pics of mine..

Honda's might be slightly different...but you cant do it wrong. The bolt goes on the top and holds the bracket down...just kinda tighten them equally

that looks NOTHING like what I have in my car, as a matter of fact, the battery is even located differently (mine runs legnthwise along the passenger side, where yours runs across the rad support

C8V6C has his modified to mount there. Your's is mounted where it should be stock, is it possible to post a picture of the hold down pieces you have to help us figure out how to assemble them.

You may need to do a little fabricating to get things to fit properly... nothing too big though.

here's a picture of mine. it's a roughly 12"x1"x0.125" strip of metal and i bolted it to the battery tray. i plan to put another piece perpendicular to this to make it a cross that'll bolt to the frame rail.

You should have two j-hooks, two nuts, and a right angle bracket. The two j-hooks go on either side of the battery(front and back). There are oval shaped holes in the frame rail on either side of the battery tray; just slip the j-hooks into the holes and hold them up (you need three hands here). Then the bracket lays across the left (drivers) side of the battery and you stick the threaded ends of the j-hooks through the holes on the bracket. Now install the nuts on the ends and tighten down.

Good Luck.

I'll take some pics tommarrow, it's in , but it seems very loose

the bar fits nicely around my wal-mart battery, but it does go under the battery terminals, I'm worried they will eventually rub the rubber off of the brace and short out the battery

I ran out of thread on the j-bolts, I think I can get shorter ones that may work fine, I'm just a little upset that I bought the oem stuff, and it doesn't work

I remember getting an OEM Honda hold-down back when I had a normal battery, it never seemed very tight either. You could try what 1gencrx said, except use 2, 1 on each side.

here's a very old pic of mine, you can kinda see the hold-down. i put it on the driver's side then ran the j-bolts to the passenger side of the battery tray.

Here is mine. I used a piece of prepunched metal I got from work, and for the sides 2 tubes that have a metal hook welded on one end and a bolt welded to the other end.
