Re-Looming My Wire Harness

I want to Re-Loom my wire harness and was curious what size I should get for the sleeving, 1/8'', 1/4'', 1/2''? Has anyone used anything along these lines? How do you get it over the connectors??

Nice writeup. I have used the black plastic corregated split covering on some aftermarket wiring. Makes it look more OEM.
