I took my air filter off to fix a vacuum leak on my 1986 1G and noticed this random spring hanging from a line, and I don't know what it goes to, it doesn't seem original

Can't really tell what it's attached to on the lower end, looks like it may be holding the lever for the choke diaphragm or something but no reason for it to be on the hose besides a mounting place for it possibly, assuming your vacuum diaphragm isn't working which is the reason for the spring perhaps...?
