hey guys, i'm not sure whether or not I've ever posted here, but I've been lurking around your site for a while now and I've come to regard it as the premier source for EA Civic 1st gen CRX info on the net. I've even mentioned you guys a few times in the exhaust notes section of the magazine.

I'm working on an article about uncommon yet plausible and especially, potent engine/chassis combinations. One of the combos we decided on is an EA civic with a turbo D16. If any of you have done this swap and can provide us with quality digital photos of your ride and its powerplant we'd be more then excited to run them. I'll be checking this thread but you can also email me @ [email protected] .

Thanks for your help guys,
Drü Barrios

Well, first you should get the chassis code right....

84-87 CRX, AE, AF, AS (for the jdm ZC style)
84-87 Civic, AT (again, jdm zc version)

People are for some reason resistant to drop the "E-" off the front of "E-AS" or "E-AT," even though they don't have a problem letting it fall off the "E-EF8" or "E-EG6."

Thanks for the mentions though. RPR is basically then end-all-be-all of 1/3g civic/rex sites, to be sure.

The turbo D series is a great idea. Heck, I turboed the stock motor and it has a ton of unknown potential. 200whp and 165 ft-lbs in my gunsights, on a completely stock motor. Also, the DOHC ZC with boost tends to work very well, and it bolts right in. I think this might be the tree to bark under, personally.

Alot of people have put together a zc/d16a1 turbo in the car and the are pretty powerfull although i have a distaste for them as pre obd FI is hard to tune for turbo... often a series of compromises of efficacy and budget come into view its a daunting task ...

The thing is, these combinations were intended to be uncommon ones. That is why the SOHC D16 in a 3rd gen came to mind. regardless. If there is anybody out there, turbo or non turbo with a D16a6/z6/y8 or even a D15Bvtec or SOHC ZC in a 3rd gen we'd like to run photos of your ride.

No. r4shdkin has a D15 SOHC vtec non-turbo from a later, 95 or so, Civic. CRXdan has the D16 blacktop turbo.

Going to Hawaii? You need a Dune Buggy.

WTB: 14x8 or 9" Panasports or Watanabe RS.

WTB: 3g Civic hatch gauge cowl, brown.

WTB: ZC header--FOUND
