I'm going to put a pod filter on my teg engine, with some nice mandrel bends, similar to the one on g1teg.org in the how tos section. I've also got i nice plastic 4 inch scoop that i am going to put under the bumper and coming up through the floor, for some nice cold air.
Ive been researching this a bit and i found an article on it saying that cold air doesn't make any difference to hp because the intake manifold is heated by the coolant passages, heres the quote:
"Cold air inductions" are trendy. They net you no measurable power gains. The invariably involve isolating the air filter area from the hot engine bay. A good start would be plugging all the coolant passages that heat the throttle as well as the intake manifolds. The heated manifolds(like every other car out there) is why cold air intakes don't make diddly for difference - because the intake manifolds are heated! This is also why you can feel the difference when your engine is cold - because the intake manifolds are still cold also!
Conclusion: Don't bother with cold air intakes until you manage to block/bypass the intake manifold heating.
What do you guys think??

what about cold days? would be nice to have a inline valve that would allow coolant in winter and restrict in the warm months. si has to have to operate the fast idle contoler. might be able to reroute just to the controler and bypass the tb heater.

If you take hot air from the engine compartment and heat it up you come up with air hotter than the engine compartment, If you take air that is from outside the engine compartment (Say 30 - 50 degrees lower temprature) then you will not have as hot of air as you would starting with engine compartment air.

Any kind of "open" intake coming from the outside is a good thing. Even if something (scoop, hole...etc) is pulling outside (cooler) air it still will circualte the hot engine bay air and keep the whole engine cooler.
I say still do your intended setup.

Anyone know how much it would cost for a muffler shop to get a 1 metre length of 2.5 inch piping and U bend it in the middle for a 5 inch radius. I was thinking about $40 Aus which is about $25 US. I suppose i should ask the muffler shop hey
