You said SP requires basically stock internals, which is mostly true. I assume you've read through the ruleset for SP? Also, isn't your car an 86 or 87? The earlier cars weigh noticeably less.

For engine control, MegaSquirt will probably be okay. There are more advanced options, but MS may get the job done. For intake, the best is individual throttle bodies. A later log-style intake will work, but if you're trying to make the car as good as it can be, you'll want the ITB setup.

Shameless plug-- I have a nice ITB intake and a high-end Electromotive control system for sale if you're interested.

You won't find stock sitting on a shelf somewhere, and I wouldn't bother with Tokicos. The only performance option you'll find new that's worth considering is the Teins that Heeltoe Auto sells. If you look for something used, only look for Konis. I have no firsthand experience with the Teins, but I'm guessing they aren't as good as the Konis. I'm not putting down the Teins; I'm just saying that it will be nearly impossible for something to be better than the Konis. You can find Konis occasionally for sale, but they will be at least 15 years old, so they may need some attention. One of the good qualities of Konis is that they can be rebuilt as many times as necessary to be made like new and to your specifications. Either way, be prepared to spend some cash. These aren't your average $50 parts store shocks.

LOVE this car. I've sold lots of cars over the years, but this one was definitely the toughest to let go. I built it from the ground up the way I wanted it, using all the tricks I learned from driving these cars for so long. Obviously, I could have sold the car to anyone, but I was really hoping the right kind of person would come along, and he did. I am really looking forward to seeing this car get back on its feet doing what it was built to do.

My kids started getting serious about autocrossing their karts in the last couple of years (my youngest is a national contender), so that takes up most of my time in the garage and at events. This car didn't take a lot of care, but I wanted to start focusing entirely on getting my boys on course, so I decided to switch to something closer to stock. Down the road, I may be ready to have another build like this one, but I'd have a hard time finding one as clean and straight.

P. S. Sweet side windows!

Well I'm sold!  So glad you guys are local.  It's pretty lonely being a 1G owner in the Southeast.  I look forward to hearing more about your RPR meet.  I'll be there for sure!

If you end up getting the car you're trying to get, you need to spend some time talking with Tim Smith, who poopshovel mentioned. Reigning E Prepared national champ in his 86 Civic.
