my car pulls well up to about 5800 and it quickly loses steam.  itll pull all the way to redline, just not hard at all. i just replaced the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter.  is this normal?  btw its an 85 si.  the engine burns oil too so maybe theres a correlation...?  should this engine pull all the way to redline or what?

Couldn't it be the vacuum-thing on your ignition?
The thing thats advances your ignition when accelarating?

What is the proper name for that thing?

if it helps at all, my idle is kinda screwy. when it transitions from cold idle to warm idle (from about 2k to 1k) it will continually rev between like 1100 and 1500. just up, down, up, down. i read it was the tps but i really have no idea. maybe these problems are related?
