Hi, I just got the link to this site. I'm from Kalamazoo Michigan and I'm a proud new owner of a 1984 1500s. I know nothing about this car or Hondas in general. I bought this car with out looking at it off of ebay a while back. One of the previous owners replaced one of the fuesable links with speaker wire. Nice! A quick trip to Napa fixed that one. The car will start as long as I hold the key all the way turned right to the start position. Once I let go and the key turns left to the run position, the car dies. I think it is loseing spark. Maybe its a faulty ignition switch? I'm working on it. Let me know if you can shed any light on this problem. Thanks, D

Yep, replace the ignition switch, this gets wore out. to much weight on the keyring after 20 years. Nice, now fix that rust and reset that rear bumpercover.
Honda, because it's hard to look baller in your mom's Volvo.
The entire tool selection at Sears or the contents of a Snap-On truck will do you no good if you do not know how to use them.

Ignition switch as stated. Easy to replace.
I miss my 84 1500S, I moved to the `86 Si for the sunroof and the FI (makes my swap easier). I wanna see pics of the interior. As BP stated take care of that rust.

I took the ingition switich out and found the the contacts were scourched and one of the little springs was welded in a curshed position. I scraped the contacts and popped the spring apart and put it all back together and she starts and runs. I did order a new switch anyway. Today I pulled the alt. only to discover that the housing is cracked and it is completely siezed up. One of the fuseable link for the ing. was replaced with a piece of speaker wire and that was burnt too. I think the alt dieing burnt the link. When they replaced the link with wire that burnt and fried the ingition switch. It was hot wired too. It just never got fixed right the first time. Its all jerry rigged up. Two of my brake lines are crimped off at the master cylinder! Does anyone know where I can find a right front fender and front bumper, headlight bezzel? I'm working on getting all the parts to do a tune up but i want to check the compression first. I'm going to have to replace all the breaks too! yeah Anyone from around the Kalamzoo-Michigan Area?

I take it your from kalamazoo? Are you on kzoorice? I don't have much time to research all of what I can do with this car, mods and swaps and such. I also might be getting a 1983 1500s soon.
----Has anyone ever bought stuff from The Honda parts Store? I found it when I did a google search. Whats a good place to do business with?

I have an 1984 Civic S.
I bought it in May, 1984.
I did paint the lower half White, so it looks like an Si without a Sunroof.
The 1984 is much better than the 1983.
And if you think finding parts for a G3 Civic is hard, try looking for G2 parts.
If anything, get another G3.

Well thank God for that, 'cause if I wasn't, this would probably have never worked.

Check out the Classifieds.. IIRC 3gencivic is selling a few of those headlight surrounds.. Nice project... Glad you saved that one.. White 3G's are great but I'm biased since I have a white 86 SI .. Good luck and welcome to the board..
RIP Block# D16A12011451.. It will be missed..
