I didn't know if this should be in the carb or turbo section but i'm a carb guy. I tweaked the stock carb some more today and after a couple of runs under half throttle with the A/F staying consistent at 12.5 or less, i full throttled it. It smoked the tires in 3rd at 3500rpm and then pulled really hard @ 13 psi of boost up to 7000 rpm when i figured i better shut it down and check some plugs. Plugs were dark brown with the ground strap showing it needs a plug one step colder. I made a few more full throttle runs and after wiping the stupid grin off my face, i figure it's now ready to hit the track and get some numbers before i start spraying some nitrous and blow it up biggrin.gif . I have been looking at a USDM carb off an HF and it seems very similiar to a CDM carb after you remove all the emissions crap .The USDM carb has more cfms so i will try the same mods to that carb in the near future.
I am really shitty with writeups so i'll pass the procedures to modify the carb (using all stock parts) and what fuel pump and regs to use to Fat 85 civic.

This is such a simple setup after figuring out the jets that someone else has to try this!

Wow! Sounds like it's working out for you. I knew you could do it.

Going to Hawaii? You need a Dune Buggy.

WTB: 14x8 or 9" Panasports or Watanabe RS.

WTB: 3g Civic hatch gauge cowl, brown.

If your carb is totally enclosed in a box, how did you get the throttle cable to actuate the throttle lever?

No box. Just a 2 1/4 in. pipe that i cut and welded up to fit over the air cleaner opening. Pics to follow after i down load them in a bit.

Seems like you've created the poor mans rocket.

Hmm, I'm gonna PM you. ph34r.gif

Looking at a picture he posted earlyer, it looks like carb is not enclosed, rather, it looks that there is a sealed can attached to the lip where the stock airfilter can would go. (The mouth of the throtle body if my brain is not beraying me) Basically, all the cabaling is hiden under the intake can like it would be with a stock carb filter.

I am using a Holley Blue electric fuel pump and a Holley rising rate regulater($75.00). The Holley pump maxes at 14 psi so i need a higher psi rated pump before i can put more boost on. The regulater works off vacuum so at idle, it's set at 3 psi and when ever the vacuum goes up 1 inch(under throttle or boost), the fuel pressure rises 1 psi. I am downloading pics now and will post shortly after.( Dam slow phone lines!)

Sorry but my phone line thing is so slow!( I can only send a couple of pics at a time to my gallery otherwise it would take hours) . Euphoric, i'll get you and Rampage out for a spin and you can tell me how stupid this thing pulls. (Hops across lanes in 3rd and you can feel major suspension twisting in 4th!)

This pic is before the rising rate FPR and latest carb mods.

Nothing has been done to the block( Bone stock). This block has taken a couple of 100 shots of nitrous and today has been full throttled over 20 times @ 13psi . ( Compression has not changed) I have another block that i have Forged pistons and rods going in after i see how much boost and nitrous this "test motor" will take. I honestly believe these EW's are one of the strongest stock bottom ends ever made! (I have melted valves and piston rings but have yet to hurt the bottom end)

Latest setup with rising rate FPR and deleted vacuum secondary actuator.
Can someone tell me how to post more then 1 pic at a time from my gallery? Thanks.

IC and charge pipes.

Removed vacuum secondary actuator.

Secondary throttle shaft parts welded together for mechanical secondaries( No bogging after accelerater pump nozzle drilled out to .026 (drill #71)

Choke shaft removed and plugged with JB weld.

Removed the vent tube (Was sticking out from the gray JB welded spot seen in the pic between the choke shaft and the idle solenoid) with the line that went to the charcoal canister and plugged it with JB weld.

Replaced the primary jet with the secondary jet # 180.

Leave the secondary jet open.

Spread power valve spring apart @ carb body end by 3mm. for power valve to open earlier.

Drill out power valve discharge nozzle to .039 (Drill # 61)

By the way, these are pics of the spare carb that i stripped to figure out how the carb circuits work- the crap at the bottom of the float bowl is what i found in every one of these carbs ,a reason why these things usually need a good cleaning to run right. These are all the mods done to the carb besides from stripping it to bare essentials -removing all vacuum actuators and vacuum lines except for the vacuum advance that i kept on only to keep highway temps down (Advance is locked in @ 28 degrees)

These are only preliminary jets and settings .Maybe someone else will try this and get better results with different combinations of timing, jetting and orifice sizes.
