Fixing the 3G's rust:

My dad made me a floor panel from scratch which was pretty cool:

So far me and my dad are making a pretty good team!

The rust at the front has now been cut out a replaced with fresh metal, the next task is to tackle the rear sills.

More progress on the old school ride!

Rear driver arch is finished, its had a plate on the sill underneath, two patches on the outer arch and two patches on the inner arch. The welds have been sealed and ignore the multicoloured paint its just to keep moisture off it.

The passenger arch required the most work as it had previously had a dodgy repair where a huge patch was welded over the rust.

Props to my dad for making the panel from scratch!

We removed the tank as i didnt fancy welding too close to it.

Rust partially removed:

Rust removed

Plenty of sheet metal required:
CIMG1442_zpsc8d85e04.jpg

The panel my dad made from scratch:
CIMG1439_zps8834684f.jpg

Started plating up and tacking the panels together:

And the panel in place:

Just needs a bit of trimming and the seem welding underneath then thats all the welding complete 8)

Red paint is just there to stop the atmosphere affecting the filler and metal etc.

Nice project start !

the way I see the pictures, makes it look like it's easy to repair the body, and make panels out of sheets of metal  ...

but it's not !  :P

where are you going with this project ? OEM style ? or race it ?

Yeah making panels is tricky!

Im not 100% sure what I want to do with it so for now it will just be a tidy daily. Im thinking about putting a k20 in my EG6 and putting the B18 from the EG into this but that may not happen for a while.

You've made a great start on this! You weren't kidding, it really is EXACTLY the same model as mine, can't be many of these left on the UK roads.

Also, that's a nice looking cosmic EP3 hiding behind it.

So, who's the evil twin here? Is it me or you?
