Well I have been having problems getting my car started. It has always seemed to idle to low and now when I try to start it a puff of smoke comes out of the carb. What does it mean when smoke puffs from a carb?

Is the engine cold when you see the smoke? If so, I bet you have a bad intake valve. If you only see smoke when the engine is hot, there could be a bunch of reasons.

Going to Hawaii? You need a Dune Buggy.

WTB: 14x8 or 9" Panasports or Watanabe RS.

WTB: 3g Civic hatch gauge cowl, brown.

does it die when you see the puff of smoke because if it does basically it's a backfire or precombustion in the chambers so don't worry about it that much...but i would reccommend a standard two pump on the gas pedal before you start it because we have mechanical fuel pumps and they don't always deliever the gas right away try that and see what you get

Thanks for the replies but I think it did it because I was playing around with the order of the plug wires on the distributor cap. Now that they are in the right order it doesn't do it.
