Careful with the diffuser......if the transition from the flat bottom of the car to the diffuser is too abrupt you will get flow separation there and it will reduce the effectiveness of the diffuser significantly.  You have to roll into the diffuser a bit, ideally you want the air to stick to the diffuser face like water flowing over the bottom of a spoon when held in a stream of water.

Also your rear axle is going to play hell with the function of the diffuser.  But that's unavoidable..........

You might find more benefit having the diffuser start at the axle CL and build a flat floor from the back of the tub.  That will move your aerodynamic center of pressure rearward.

Just a thought.

Good work though Aren, keep it up!

Rob

Good points Rob.

I plan to shape the transition by riveting the al sheet to the square tube with about a 1ft forward overhang, and then "tap" in a radius as well as I can and finally secure the sheet to the floor-board. But noted on the transition as smooth as possible.

the axle is, um yeah in the way lol...

I tried to really consider the position, I decide to put it more in the center or the car to move the center of pressure forward lol I figured that under the rear axle would maximize grip on the rear, but in roll if the tire starts to lift and or if the car lifts the diffuser off the ground it wont work anyway, less of an angle towards the center of the car so I am hoping it will be more consistent.

Also because the roof is causing the most lift on the car I had the thought that putting the neg pressure directly below the roof would help stabilize the car?

Well those are my thoughts, hell even if I had a parachute mounted right there, I would probably not know the difference!

Another random thought........are you coupling the rear diffuser with a splitter/front diffuser at all?  Because if you are, you have already moved the C of P forward, so you might need to offset it with moving the diffuser rearward.  I just don't want you to end up with a car that has SO MUCH front end you can't keep the back end under it.

Any thoughts on where you are dumping the exhaust with regard to the underbody/aero?  Will the pipe be in the airflow disrupting things.  Will the exhaust blow into the diffuser?

I know I'm a pain in the ass.......but I want to make sure you are putting a balanced package together.  There's nothing worse than putting a ton of work into something to have it not drive anything like you imagined when you're done!

No worries Rob! Thanks for the intrest!

The only other aero I plan to have is a 4" air damn as seen in the first post of this trend and a 4" tall adj rear spoiler mounted on the back of the hatch like Chris Dorsey's ae86.

Some things just to reduce drag also.

No splitter in my plans.

Exhaust will be a forward side exit like EP CIVIC's.

Anyway it's late for me but I'll check back tomarrow.

Thanks.

Love the new build philosophy.  Form follows function works for me.

Nice work - i've seen some of this on fb

Holy wow.  In that pic with your rear wheel on the jack, is that how low you're planning on running the car?  I think that would be the lowest I've seen these cars go.  Awesome build man.
