Thanks, let me know if you want a set and ill make them up.

Again i appreciate the help!

As far as the car, i've been working on a build thread but i haven't posted it yet but here are some pictures and a quick bio on it.

Its an 85 HF that had 35k original miles on it. I got it in like 1999 when i was 12 years old and started working on it. My dad owns an auto body shop so i had everything at my disposal and it was basically the first car i worked on. It was hit in the drivers door/quarter panel and the lady that owned it decided not to fix it. Back then i got as far as replacing the quarter panel and painting the door jams an odd copper color. At this point it was like 2003 and i lost interest. About a year ago i decided to get back to it so i pulled it out of storage and have basically touched everything on the car rebuilding it.

It is now an 85 HF with an 87 Si engine (D15A3). It now has a megasquirt system that controls fuel and spark and all the emissions stuff is gone so its as simple as possible. I rebuilt the engine using oem grade components, stock injectors (for now). Painted the whole thing and changed the interior from blue to black. I have two parts cars 87 Si and an 86 (base) both still have some good stuff on them so let me know if anyone needs something, i may be able to help out with that.

Ive still got the HF engine is anyone has any use for it.

Its almost ready for the road again im just waiting on my windshield to be installed and a piece to put the rear bumper on.

Cant wait to drive it this summer. Im from the Rochester, NY region so i have to wait until the salt is washed away.

Great project! owned since 12, impressive.

Did you weld in a new quarter panel? Probably ask some advice down the road. i’ll want to weld in new wheel wells to the beater someday.

I use to drive from michigan to nyc a couple times a year, years ago. passed close to Rochester down I80. Salt belt. Car looks great.

I had no idea you could remove the emissions box by the drivers headlight. Was there a lot to that to make it work? I thought some of those components had to communicate w the ecu. I’d love to remove mine from a reliability perspective. can you share some details?

Very impressive and a great story for sure!  Such low miles as well and she looks great.  If you had an extra 84-85 bumper I would be interested but sounds like that’s probably not the case.  You have to do a build thread, so cool!

wish you were out here I would bring both of mine to have them painted!

I took the box out of my 86 years ago.  There was only one thing you had to keep in it to make sure the car would run, it was an part that had a wire connector on it, no vacuum line.  May be sometime on here about it, when I swapped my B16 in all that changed again so I can’t go look at mine.

Found the thread on the black box, two things need to be done other than capping all the vacuumed lines.

Greasemonkey, i did weld in the new quarter. I removed from an 86 and put it on the 85. Not a terrible job in comparison to new cars but does require some general welding skill and patience. i can absolutely give you some tips once you get to that point.

So i was able to remove my black box because the car has a custom megasquirt ECU in it. No more emissions ha. Lots of wiring but its awesome in the end to be able to have full control. Image of the new ECU and relay board below, it fits nicely in the lock box behind the seats.

So i have a set of 87 Si bumpers (front/rear) and what appears to be an 84-85 rear bumper (base model), plus i have at least 1 set of the 84-85 side skirts i may have 2 sets. All are in pretty good shape besides normal wear and i think some of the mounting tabs are cracked but i could fix that. The only reason i didnt use the Si bumpers is because i was missing the wide door moldings, oh well.

Ive been taking the pictures the whole time so once i get some down time i plan on making a build thread. Coming soon!

Also i have a bunch of parts and things which at some point ill make a post about them, but if you think of anything let me know and ill check if i have it.

So very cool, great place to mount the system!

I would be interested in some of the 84-85 parts.  Not sure if you have seen my thread on my 85.  Found an aftermarket front bumper but it the fit is not as good as the original.  PM me what you have and what you would want.

So nice to see craftsmanship like this.  I plan on removing the sunroof from my 86. It doesn’t work, I don’t use it, 45lbs in the highest part of the car and it reduces headroom. On right hand turns my helmet hits it, lol.  I cut a roof off of a base model CRX a few years ago to graph onto mine, don’t want to go the ghetto plug route.  There was a local chassis shop that had experience in doing this type of work on BMW, Porsche and some Hondas.  Sadly they went out of business.  I reached out to several body shops locally and seems they all have no interest in this kind of work. Insurance work pays better and turns around quicker.  My search continues.

looking forward to your build thread.

Yea, working in a normal body shop for years insurance work is the meat and potatoes. Whenever we had custom work it seemed to get pushed to the side for insurance jobs, I guess thats just how it goes.

Im working on getting everything photographed that i have. Ill DM you when I get things figured out.

Thanks for the kind words, Im also working on a build thread so hopefully Ill find the time to get that posted soon. The car is so close to being ready and it would be nice to have it documented.

Had a good friend who years ago ran a body shop.  He used to do mostly one off specialty work then started to do more insurance work.  5 years later quadrupled his business and opened two locations.

looking forward to your build thread!

Similar dimensions for 86/87 si version.   doesn't have a hex nut, but a phillips that strips.  This rusty part comes off my beater.

Awesome, Thanks!

I remember taking these off one of my donor cars and they stripped right away so thats probably why i didnt have them when i was reassembling.

Thanks for the image, definitely worth having for reference
