I found this Japanese site last night and noticed that the person/shop makes several CF parts for old Hondas, including CF-48 Aero Discs. They even make CF drink coasters. biggrin.gif

I sent them an e-mail, but I doubt they understand Engrish. sad.gif

Anyone care to translate?

doesn't matter the weight, it matters that they actually make replacements cause the originals are so hard to find.

Spoke to soon; no 15"...

The translation make about as much sense as the japanese:

QUOTE
The FRP carbon was used for the material, the unlimited CF - 48 aero disks リプロダクト were done.

The basic gel coat of FRP becomes white. (The surface at the buff there to be ツヤ, because is finished, you can use that way, but once it is for paint.)

The crack is easy to cause also the FRP carbon, it stops and the carbon is inserted to the screw hole of the point, to crack we have produced difficult.

Price is price with 4 sets. (The wheel does not belong.)

* Carbon you sold started.
(The carbon make using the soft resin which the crack is difficult to occur, we have produced.)

Mugen = Unlimited

Sounds like they come in white, and you can either use them like that or paint them.

And you have to be carefull tightning the screws cuz they can crack.

No 15" no care.

Are you running the 15"s? If so have you contacted any rota vendors about purchasing the covers seperately? I was getting ready to do that. http://www.carbonfiberworks.com/ is local to me and I was going to talk to them about recreating them in carbon to fit the real Mugen wheels.

Considering 15's are super rare and most of us have either 13's or 14's, it would make much more sense to produce the more popular sizes.

14's work just fine for me. they look good, too. sometimes the 15's just look too akward.

hey....I know that guy too.

and, let me tell you.....he's not balla enough for those 15s, either.

but since i have the center caps and the emblems, I really want the covers to go with them.

and i just checked out ROTA's knockoffs, the bolt holes for the covers are clocked wrong.

my wheels have the cover bolts and the lugnuts lined up with each other and two of the outside things (and i can't understand why mugen didn't clock the valve to be in line with one of the other lugnuts).

the rotas have the cover bolts splitting the difference between the lugnuts, so they don't line up with the outer part right.

in fact, it looks like the 15 inch rotas are patterned off the 14 inch CF-48s...if the site listed is making covers for the real ones.

all the 14" pics I can find show the lugs and the bolts not lined up like my 15"s are.

[seriously, this is one of the few pics i can find of 15" CF-48....besides the set I own]

dammit, I guess I'll just have to make my own covers, or get some of rota's, cut them on a lathe and reweld them clocked correctly.

i dunno how many have seen this, but there are a ton of mugen wheel pics on this page:

Mugen = Unlimited, OR Without Limit.

As far as I know, "Without Limit" was the intended translation, but in the end it's the same word.
