I'm in the market for some new tires for my car, and I was hoping to get some input. Right now I'm on TOYO Proxses, 195/60/r14 i think. I bought them 6 mos ago and I'm not really happy with them...too much roll. The place i bought them from said that if I go one size down, same maker, he'll just straight swap them, or he'll give me 70$ a piece twards new. I'm thinking maybe Potenza RE910 (which i had before and liked) or RE950. Anyone have any input??

Thankyou kinkly...hope to have them for the BC meet!!!

What size is a size down. As far as I know the lowest you can go would be 195/55/R14's And If they mean 185/60R14's Than DONT they are too skinny for our car. TRUST ME.

Through the summer I ran Cooper Cobra GTS's in 185/60R14's. I loved them. Only problem was wear, but some of that was from the car. Car handled great, tire noise was almost non-existant and they worked fine in the rain. I plan on replacing them with either the same thing or the Azenis. Once I get some functional shocks again...

Yes that is the factory size but from behind they look just way too skinny. IMO

i work in a tire center in phoenix and have an 86 CRXSI ...If I had 14's still instead of 16's I would put on BFG radials size 205/60 14 I believe that's the size . We stock those at my store and they are nice. I had the 910 Brid which are still on the factory rims in the backyard which were good too. If you can get the new tread design of the 950 do that. I have 2 950's on my 16's which are 205/40 16. They are cool. Do some checking into the BFG's ...it will give a wider tire (more traction/handling corners) and a bit smaller profile.

Thanks for the input. I think i've decided to upgrade to the toyo Proxy TS-1....or something like that. High performance tire. 195/55/14. The guy at the shop is giving me a good deal by taking my 6mos old tires at origional cost, and only charging me $40 more/tire, so I wanna do business with him.

Hopefully, these will keep me on the road.

I raced on 185-60's for years (in 13" diameter, but the widths are the same as 14") in SCCA ITC class and regularly competed against other Civics running 205-60's and 225-45's. I gave up very little to those cars in the corners. It is possible to 'over tire' a car. I actually had an advantage over 205's due to better gearing (205's were almost 2" taller in diameter than 185's). The 225's had a slight advantage in that their tires didn't 'fall off' the performace curve at the end of the race due to temperature like my 185's did. This makes them more popular down south at fast southern tracks like Road Atlanta. While wider tires might feel better, they aren't necessarily faster unless the stopwatch says they are. Comfortable is not necessarily fast and fast isn't necessarily comfortable.

I think you are making a good choice with the 195's.
