So I have a 1986 CRX HF Cal emissions model and 3 of the thermovalves on it are bad. Since I have the shop manual I was able to use the correct procedures to test and retest them, and they are for sure not working, not surprising though since my car has 294K on it. I searched and searched and searched and I cant find anywhere to get them brand new, not even NOS from the dark dusty back shelves of a dealership parts room. I know a lot of guys just swap a weber carb onto their EW1 but I want to keep my car as close to stock as possible for multiple reasons so I'm not going to be performing that swap. So my main question is has anyone ever disassembled and repaired these thermovalves before without breaking them and been able to successfully repair them? My guess is the reason the thermovalves stop working is because a lot of crap gets inside the valve and keeps it from sliding properly and rerouting vacumm correctly. I suppose if I had to could just reroute vacumm lines to bypass the thermovalves but I want to keep from doing that unless I absolutely have to. All thoughts and solutions are appreciated. Thanks!
