I just bought my new car on sunday, $350NZD and theres only like 3 problems with it!,
1. the sunroof is rusted out
2. the auto gearbox is fucked
3. there is a huge dent in the bar by the window (pic below)

its been pretty well looked after its whole life..because there isnt a spec of rust anywhere.. some of the plastic panels have been cracked but thats not hard to fix.
Im buying the new clutch and presure plate tomorrow and have a donor car with everything i need basicly for the manual conversion.
Any tips from you guys would be cool, any info that could make shit a bit easyer rolleyes.gif
ANYWAY, here some pics

Nice score. That thing is like a Unicorn over here...I've never seen real pictures of that interior outside of a brochure.

As for the conversion, you will need the pedal cluster, clutch cable, shift linkage, shifter, tranny, tranny mount, clutch, flywheel pressure plate and throw-out bearing. There are two wiring changes you will have to make. The first is to wire together the line in the shift lever area that tells the system whether or not it's in park. I THINK they are thicker black wires with either white or yellow stripes. Just connect them together. If you don't you won't be able to start the car. To get the reverse lights working you will need to run a pair of wires from the connector on the transmission, through the firewall to the shifter area and connect them to the correct wires there for reverse. I just used a multi-meter to figure out which ones were for park and which were for reverse. It's not terribly hard. The hard part is swapping the pedals. Take the drivers seat out, it will make it a LOT easier.... smile.gif

haha technically it will be his car when he pays me back the $390 i lent him for the car laugh.gif and as for parts my trusty old civic sedan is gonna sacrifice itself for the parts we need (assuming they are a match which they should be). but its definatly a nice body on the car for sure, a few patches of rust but NOTHING compared to most hondas of that age ph34r.gif

To me, the most interesting item in your pictures is the intake manifold/plenum and throttlebody. I will have to go home and compare my USDM 1.5i (called the Si in the US and Canada) but I suspect that your bits pass more volume that our bits.

Could you check your engine ID tag (on a small plate in the front of the engine compartment) and tell us what it says. Possibly this is the long rumoured, but never seen (by me) EW5.

Cheers,

Scott

Not bad. I've been looking for another digital dash model (any condition) for ages... it seems they all seem to reside in the North Island these days sad.gif

The computer is not to hard to figure - I think the units (and hence you know want it's measuring) come up on the screen when you activate the various functions.

If not then mine must have had the english written on it - I'll check in the near future...

It shouldn't take all that long, it's not terribly difficult. Two people could do it in a day, with a couple of breaks for some XXX.
