Ok so here's an embarrassing yet shitty situation. I recently replaced all the fluids on my crx, and last fluids I changed was my transmission fluid.

Not the first time changing trans fluid.

For some reason I decided not to change the washer so I didn't. Fluid started leaking after I changed my transmission fluid so I decided to tighten it even more thinking maybe it wasn't tight enough, I didn't even tighten it 90degrees more. And I originally only tightened it as much as I usually do and as much as I tighten the oil drain plug.

Anyways I guess I tightened it too much or maybe it was already cracked before I and I made it worse. So now it cracked and the drain plug location on the case fell apart in 3 pieces. Threads are good, no stripping although that doesn't matter at this point.

Questions, how can I fix this? Is jb weld recommended although I wouldn't know how to start.

Anyone know of someone or a place that can fix this somewhere in Southern California?

Lastly it would make my life easier if someone had that side of the casing so I can just replace it, seems like the easiest solution and I wouldn't have to tow the car.

You have to replace that half of the case. You should be able to find a case in a local junkyard.

Oh ya which transmission from which engine would bolt straight on to our d15a3. I'm considering just getting a new transmission since my gears tend to grind and my clutch linkage is in specs and adjusted.

Be careful when you go looking for a replacement transmission. There are two different length gearboxes Honda put in these. I used to think the short ones were early (84-85) models and the long ones were 86-87. I'm not so sure now. I have an 87 HF that has the short case gearbox in it.

Either one will bolt up to your engine, chassis mounts and shifter without a problem. If you are planning on swapping your stuff into the replacement case you find you will definitely have to get the same size. The internals are completely different.

FWIW, here's what the end of the longer gearbox looks like.

And this is the shorter one.

So even the crx si gear boxes are different lengths between years?

I have a trans that is cracked on the mounting edge to the motor. This should work for you.

I have two transmissions that I don't need, cases are good so if that's all you need let me know.

Couldn't get this to work on my tablet last night but to answer your question.

Only the 85 Si had the shorter gearbox case, the 86/7s had the longer one with slightly different gear ratios.

bump, I need another transmission case.

P.S. I am now rebuilding the bad trans I got for the good case that is now on my crx. Now I need a case for this bad trans so I can rebuild and slap on my crx.

I'm in the same boat - have an otherwise good 85 trans except for the gear case which has a hole in it.
