What does "Si", "Dx", and "Hf" stand for? Do they stand for anything at all?
Please no guesses...

I think Si means "Sport Injected" or "Sports Injected".
I would also like to know what "DX" represents.

Sources? I dont trust anyone.
I think people just make these things up to satisfy themselves... I mean.. come on, someone told me "Si" stands for "Sexual Intercourse".

Hey, isn't truth stranger than fiction? Sounds good to me.

Wasn't there an unbadged model called the "standard"?

The DX was the unbadged standard model.
The Si is the natural progression from the earlier S models. As Honda began introducing fuel injection in their lineup they used the "i" to differentiate the models; hence the Si, LXi, etc.

Yes, my 3G hatch is a Std. model. No radio, speakers, rear wiper, clock, passenger mirror, cig. lighter, tilt wheel, unpainted bumpers, 4-speed tranny, etc.

I've always thought Si stood for "Sports Injection" (although lxndr's idea is cool); here's one citation (scroll down):
Honda at SEMA 2005
At least for '86 CRXs, there was only "CRX HF", "CRX", and "CRX Si" - I still have my Honda brochure from twenty years ago. It doesn't 'splain anything about what HF specifically stands for, aside from crowing about its great gas mileage.
I reckon the "i" in the new Civic Si is kinda superfluous, since all Civics are now fuel injected.
