The long telephoto lense tends to distort the elevation change. The starter stand in the background is almost 1/4 mile away from the corner.
You climb a god awful hill up the front straight before it levels and dips down for turn 1, so our low HP cars don't see very high speeds there. I make my 4th to 5th gear upshift at the top of the hill.
That said, I checked the tach before braking for the corner and saw what works out to about 106mph. Turn 1 is a very fast 90 degree corner with lots of runoff if you go straight (a result of A.J. Foyt's screwed up that busted up his legs in his big CART crash years ago) and there is a nasty wall on the inside on the exit of the corner. To me, it is the scariest corner on the track (that is until I get more HP to make the Kink scary
)
I'm seeing about 83mph when I can take my eyes off the road to glance down at the tach. There is room for improvement. The car can do it, but the driver needs work
