Yes, it was definitely a 'Billy-Bob' budget operation...and I paid cash w/no receipt, so, you know what that means!
That said, I told the guys to come back in two weeks and I'd have another one for them!

Yep, and money well spent! The 'service bay' spot in my garage is worth more ...I need that space open to continue the progress on the Kakabox, instead of waiting weeks and weeks (for customers) to sell another $20 or so in parts!
There's not much interest in buying 1g 'teg parts around here as far as I can tell. Must be why the local Honda junkyard told me "we don't even buy 1g teg's anymore" (U-Fix-It Honda last summer); their junkyard space must be worth more.
Cheers.

he's saying that there's people that will either take your scrap car for free or even pay YOU and pick it up. i actually have a phone number of someone that does that. the metal is worth money to them i guess

Care to share that "phone number" w/the rest of us?
Yup, steel's up in price...scrap is worth more these days! Trouble I had was getting someone to come to my garage and haul a car without suspension/wheels, hence, the $100 cash deal. No money out of my pocket however: a hour earlier I sold the set of wheels/tires for $100.

Yeah I've had two, count em, TWO people come saying they'd pick up my gutted teg for FREE. Both of them said it wasnt worth the hassle once they saw how stripped it was and they took off... they were pissed But now I have a 350 in the trunk and a rotary in the front seat area so maybe they'll take it now

I got tried of parting out the 'teg so I decided to do something different: clean up and re-grease the CRX HF steering rack I picked up at the local PAP this past summer. Thanks to lxndr for the tip that a HF was at PAP, I was able to pick the rack, and the rear axle.
The CRX HF rack has a slightly quicker steering ratio than the Si rack of the KAKABOX: 3.55 turns lock-to-lock vs. 3.89.
Took the boots off and cleaned out the old dried grease. Re-greased the rack w/AMSOIL synthetic HD grease:
...scrubbed the boots clean then reinstalled them. Gave the rack a coating of chassis black...swiped the tie-rod ends off the low mile 'teg, and, BAM!, rack ready for installation!
Cheers!

Today I added 'teg rear disc brake hardware to the CRX HF axle beam to allow the calipers to bolt on.
The 'teg's rear caliper bracket is ~0.50" thicker than the 1g/3g drum brake backing plate. Therefore, the bolts that attach the spindle/swing bearing to the trailing arms and caliper brackets are that much longer than the drum brake versions.
No difference between the 1g/3g LHS spindles vs. the 'tegs, it's the same part:
But here's the lhs spindle bolts common to the axle beam/spindle/caliper bracket compared to the 1g/3g bolts (~0.50" difference in length):
...'teg bolts installed on HF beam:
Here's a comparison of the 1g/3g drum rhs spindle/swing bearing unit vs. the disc brake 'teg's. Note that on the 'teg's, the bolt lengths common to the trailing arm/caliper bracket are ~0.50" longer in length:
...'teg rhs spindle/swing bearing unit installed on HF beam:
I just used the complete 'teg spindle/swing bearing unit, but, you could just use the 'teg length bolts in the 1g/3g bearing unit and achieve the same result. BTW, the 1g/3g rear hub/bearing units are the same as the 'teg's.
So, now w/the addition of the 'teg rear caliper brackets...
...the HF beam is ready to receive disc brakes!
Cheers!
