Well, I just finished my first engine rebuild. I really had fun doing it too. I can't wait to put it in. It should make at least 92hp. The best part about it is, I built this in the living room of my studio apartment! Oh wait, maybe that's the worst part. Oh well, it's in storage now. On with my next project--the B18C1 from 2000 Integra GSR DOHC Vtec of 170hp.

1985 EW3 Block (thanks Eastsiderider)
1987 D15A3 PE7 head
Fully spec'ed and within service limits
new rings
new rod bearings
fully lapped valves
100% new gaskets, hoses, belts
new valve stem seals
new Honda oil pump
new water pump, thermostat, dist. cap, rotor
AEM cam gear (not pictured)
CDM intake manifold modified (thanks Deadpool)
NOS Weber DCNF carb [Ferrari 308, Dino, Lamborgini Urraco] (yes, CRXfanatic, it will make as much power as dual sidedrafts)
Head shaved 0.010"
Block shaved 0.020"
Re-finished oil pan (not pictured)
Lightspeed header

The EW in my living room. My kitchen table in the background laugh.gif

Yeah. I'm sure my landlady would throw my ass out instantly if she knew, but you know, I didn't make one scratch in the floor or spill one drip of oil. The lightspeed header was made that way for some reason. I have a bung, so all we need is a bunghole and were in business. To tell you the truth though, it shouldn't matter if your reading just one cylinder, probably.

You live in an apartment building and there aren't any bungholes around?

It was quite expensive. I got the gasket set cheap, $30. It's the bearings that are pricey. I think they were around $150. I had to buy two sets of rings at $30 each becuase a broke a couple. Then the machine work for valves and the deck was $150. Man, I spent a lot on this, over $400.

That is why people buy those JDM motors with only about 30,000mi on them. They don't need a rebuild and they work fine. They are the best deal around. If you can find a JDM EW, go for it. Otherwise, you need to spend to get a fresh motor like this.

If you use all genuine Honda stuff, it'll run a lot higher. The oil pump was $100.

Great looking motor..........you forgot to add the oil cooler to the list.

Ya even got the pistons in the right way!!

I built my Jaguar head on my mom's kitchen counter top when I was 17. As clean as any race shop's facilities!!!!!

Good luck with this...let us know how it runs.
