I used to drive my beloved little 3G here in the car lovers capital of the world, Southern California, and I'd see many fine automobiles, from rip roaring AMG Mercedes, and M-Series BMW's, to Drop Top Bentleys GT's, and I used to ask myself, would I trade mine for their's? But even as I used to occasionally ponder this thought, I kept finding myself coming back to the same conclusion, which is, I can't see myself trading my little Honda for any other car that I may see out there on the road. I don't know if it's because I love the gawking looks I get from passersbys, as I'm tooling about my way, which I am not so sure if they are peering at me with a look of sorrow, because of seeing me driving behind the wheel of a 20+ year old Civic that should have long since been relegated to the junk heaps, or perhaps I'm receiving a look of "gee, he must be the smartest guy on the road," because he's driving a long since paid for, 35+ mpg gas saver. But either way, I just can't get enough of the gleeming recongnition from the young, and old, which I seem to receive while driving in my little car, along with the many thumbs up, and or friendly wave of approval from passing admirers, that is, if I don't receive an all out offer to sell it for cash. Those are just some of the reasons why I am resigned to being buried in my Civic. So, after several years of driving my beloved little Honda, and asking myself would I trade it in for any other vehicle I may see on the road daily? My conclusion shall remain, some things are priceless, and anything short of a "txt'ing teen" who is not paying attention to the road, barrelling into the rear of my passenger seat, then I refuse to part with my Civic over any other vehicle.

Tell us, do you have a parting threshold with your Civic?

I would NOT trade it for anything modern... In DREAM WORLD, I would however trade it for a nice classic like a Cuda' or challenger or a nice 68-69 GTO 4 speed.. Something along those lines..

a while back i was offered $4,000 for my crx. just last week he asked again if i had changed my mind yet. he has been dying to get his hands on this car since the day i finished the build almost 5 years ago and he was in the passenger seat for the test run. ironically, he owned my crx for a few months and never did anything with it before i bought it. occasionally i ask myself if i made the right decision. conclusion is that so far it's been the right decision since i have never really needed the money but if i ever need the money i will call the guy that made the offer and i know he will be at my doorstep with the cash within an hour.

When I die, i want to go asleep peaceful.......... not screaming and freaking out like everyone else in the car

Hard to say, my Dad has always wished that he'd kept his '84 CRX, it was the first new car he bought, and I will probably always say I'll never sell mine...but let's be honest, if I was approached to trade for say...a Superleggera, or a Veyron (LMFAO) things would be different, and copious amounts of money can be very persuasive. All in all, I'd probably sell the trade for cash and get a better CRX and then some.

What would I trade my 87 CRX for?

An 85-87 corolla hatchback. AE85 or AE86, I don't really care... so long as it's not turning to rust-dust, I'm game.
Or 240SX
Maybe if someone had a 240z they were dieing to get rid of tongue.gif

Late 80s Honda CBR250... four stroke, DOHC, 250cc, 18000rpm, 45ps... All in all, one sexy learner bike.

NOTHING!

But a Buick Grand National would make me stop and think. So would a minty black '85 CRX/Si.

MINT 84, possibly CDM, 1500S or original mugen 1/3g

or just some money to go towards finishing college so that I can then, positively, be able to buy either or both of those! I have a lot of odd projects I want to do before I'm done with cars (or life if that comes first) so I'd better make decent money and have plenty of spare time to play around
