Hey David, I added a bit of color to the delrin knob!
What do you think?

Not that you can tell but I even put gloss black in there too.

It seems as I get older, my vision gets worse. The machining stuff I can still do because I have this great selection of "lighted" magnifying lenses I use to get up close.

But where I really suffer is when I'm tig welding. Some of the stuff I do is REALLY tiny. I even mount a mirror over where I am welding to reflect the light back down onto a part so I can see it better. Nobody seems to make a good magnifying welding helmet. They have lenses you can buy for the standard helmets, but they are crap. I swear I'm going to invent a really useful magnifier for welders.

Someone told me you can special order a corrective lens prescription welding helmet. I bet that's not cheap! I still might need to do that.

As I get older, the thing I miss the most is my mind! Err... hair! No, wait, er... eyes!

David and Jay,

It is tough getting old. The problem I have with magnifiers, the focal point is so far in for a given power, that wearing a contraption like that would be impossible under a welding helmet. BTDT.

I regularly use 7x and have a set of 10x for really upclose stuff. The 7x anything over 8" past your nose is out of focus and with the 10x it is like 4".

I may have an idea that I will try this weekend. Got to weld in a fuel cell and and I'll try it on that.

Cheers,

Donnie
